A pop filter scatters the blast of air on plosive p and b sounds — without one, even the best condenser mic will print pops that no EQ can undo cleanly afterward. For close-mic'd vocals, yes. A blast of air on a plosive consonant can't be fixed cleanly in the mix afterward, and a pop filter costs a fraction of the microphone it's protecting.
For podcasting and streaming at a desk — an arm: it stays out of the way and doesn't pick up footsteps. For standing vocals and miking instruments — a boom stand.
Yes, if the mic sits on a desk or on a floor with a suspended wooden structure underneath. It cuts vibration that would otherwise reach the capsule directly.
