Founded in 1978 by Ilpo Martikainen and Topi Partanen, Genelec is the pioneer that convinced the world that active monitoring (with built-in amplifiers) was the future. Their first model, the S30, was a revolution, offering consistency and reliability that contemporary passive systems lacked. However, the real breakthrough came with the 1991 release of the 1031A—a monitor so influential it was inducted into the TECnology Hall of Fame and defined the sound of pop and rock music in the 90s and 2000s.
What sets Genelec apart today is not just their distinctive rounded aluminum enclosures (the 8000 series), which minimize sound diffraction, but primarily their SAM™ (Smart Active Monitoring) technology. Working in tandem with GLM software, these monitors can "measure" your room and automatically correct their output to neutralize acoustic issues. This means that whether you are working in a broadcast truck or a bedroom, you hear neutral, reference-grade sound.
At Wired Tunes, you will find the full spectrum of Genelec solutions—from the compact 8000 series monitors to the groundbreaking coaxial "The Ones" models (like the 8351) and immersive systems. By choosing Genelec, you join a community of professionals who value not just sound quality, but the certainty that what they hear is the truth—anytime, anywhere.
