Relay-Controlled Volume and Phase Perfection

Traditional carbon-track potentiometers inherently suffer from channel imbalances at lower volume settings, severely compromising spatial imaging and the accurate assessment of reverb tails. The PRO version of the V550 completely bypasses this limitation by utilizing a sophisticated 256-step resistor ladder network controlled by premium reed relays. Adjusting the signal in exact 0.4 dB increments, this mechanism guarantees flawless left/right channel matching and phase coherence at any attenuation level. This level of mathematical precision is mandatory for mastering engineers evaluating stereo width and subtle panning moves.

50V Operating Voltage and Pre-Gain Flexibility

Properly driving inefficient planar magnetic headphones or high-impedance dynamic studio monitors requires massive dynamic headroom. The HPA V550 PRO operates on a 50 V internal voltage rail, allowing it to swing up to 21 V RMS into 600 Ohms and deliver 6400 mW into 50 Ohms. This specific topology completely prevents transient clipping and dynamic compression. To accommodate this immense power across all headphone types without raising the noise floor, the amplifier features a hardware Pre-Gain system. Engineers can adjust the internal gain staging in 7 steps (from -18 dB to +18 dB), ensuring a pitch-black background even when using hyper-sensitive in-ear monitors (IEMs).
