Torso Electronics S4 Black is a stereo granular sampler and performance instrument designed for sound explorers, experimental producers, and live performers. With a hands-on interface, rich signal chain, and deep modulation system, the S4 invites you to sculpt, mangle, and reimagine sound in real time. Housed in a sleek matte black aluminum casing, it serves as a powerful creative hub for both studio and stage environments.

The audio engine is built around four stereo tracks, each featuring a five-stage processing chain. The Material section allows for sample playback, recording, and overdubbing, also functioning as an 8-voice polyphonic MIDI sampler. The Granular engine lets you shape grains with contour, size, and pitch control—creating everything from ambient clouds to glitchy textures. Sound is further sculpted by a 48-band resonant filter bank, a Color section (dual-band distortion, bit reduction, compression), and Space (reverb and delay with freeze).

For maximum expression, the S4 offers an extensive modulation system with four modulators per track (LFOs, envelopes, random generators) that can control any parameter. The PERFORM page with 12 macros (sliders and punch-in FX) and support for 128 scenes make it the ultimate tool for live performance. The device also functions as a USB audio interface (10 in / 10 out) and features a built-in 4-channel mixer with a master compressor.
