A sampling microphone that is always with you
Capturing a voice sample or a piece of ambience on the road usually turns into a hunt for a separate microphone or a phone recorder. The M-1 has a microphone built into the left cup, so the headphones alone cover sampling and calls. When better isolation and a fixed distance from the mouth are needed — for talkback, a scratch vocal, a conversation over a monitor — the boom mic clips on, complete with its own pop filter. The universal button activates and disables the microphone, answers calls, and handles playback with a double or triple tap to skip tracks.
Two jacks and a listening chain for the whole crew
Each cup carries a jack that takes either the cable or the boom mic — you can mount the boom and the lead on whichever side suits, so there is no single correct orientation. Those same jacks let several pairs of M-1 be daisy-chained, which replaces a headphone amplifier when a few people are working on the same material. Connected to an OP-Z, the active microphone is heard in every pair in the chain.
