Stager Microphone SR-5 is a passive hypercardioid ribbon microphone, designed primarily for guitar and vocals though it works well beyond that. Unlike the figure-8 models in the same lineup, the hypercardioid pattern rejects more signal from the rear, making it easier to place close to an amp or in a crowded stage rack.
Directionality where a figure-8 would get in the way
A corrugated aluminium ribbon at 1 by 0.1 inches and 2.5 microns thick, on neodymium magnets with a Stager toroidal transformer, gives a directional pattern without giving up the transient detail ribbons are known for. The yoke mount makes it easier to aim precisely at a source than a standard clip mount allows.
