SPL Phonitor 3

The SPL Phonitor 3 is a monitoring controller and headphone amplifier equipped with SPL's proprietary 120V technology. It provides the same quality monitoring as large SPL mastering consoles - for both loudspeakers and headphones.

The analog Phonitor Matrix allows you to mix and master on headphones with the highest quality, while maintaining the same spatial perception of the stereo panorama as on monitors.

Three analog XLR stereo inputs for a variety of sources and a wide range of monitoring options make the Phonitor 3 the ideal controller for demanding producers and sound engineers in the mixing/mastering room.

Perfect sound for headphones
The Phonitor 3 is equipped with a stereo headphone jack on the front panel. With its enormous output power, it easily drives any headphone. The unit takes full advantage of the 120V SPL technology, rewarding the listener with honest, detailed and at the same time lively sound.

Perfect sound for speakers
A stereo output is located on the rear panel, allowing you to use the Phonitor 3 as a high-end monitoring controller. You can connect active monitors or passive monitors in combination with a power amplifier.

Monitoring at the highest level
The Phonitor 3 uses the same key 120V technology and signal quality as the large SPL DMC and MMC mastering consoles.

Headphones or monitors
The Output switch allows you to instantly switch between headphones and monitors. In the middle position (Mute), the outputs are disabled and the VU meters glow red.

Analog inputs
There are three analog stereo inputs with two XLR line inputs for the left and right channels. You can connect professional players with balanced outputs, such as a high-quality DAC or audio interface, to these.

Massive controls
The massive 45 mm milled aluminum volume knob is a real pleasure to touch. Its weight combined with the Alps RK27 "Big Blue" potentiometer creates a smooth but at the same time precise control of the monitoring level.

True center
The hearing can be shifted to the left or right, which is especially noticeable when listening on headphones. That is why the Phonitor 3 has an exceptionally precise laterality setting, which retunes the stereophony. The Mono/Stereo button is not only used to select between mono and stereo modes. It also activates/deactivates the laterality setting.

Solo L/R
The Solo L/R function allows you to listen to only the left or only the right channel of the audio signal. If the switch is in the "L" position - only the left channel is fed, in the "R" - only the right. In the middle position "Off" - the normal stereo signal.

Swap L/R
The special Swap L/R function reverses the stereophony - the left channel becomes the right, and vice versa. This is extremely important and saves time when listening to samples for film audio, when you need to match the direction of the sound movement to the image. This usually requires loading the sample into the DAW and swapping the channels. With the Swap L/R function, this problem is solved directly on the Phonitor 3.

Preamp Out or Direct Out
With the DIP switch on the rear panel, you can remove the volume control from the stereo output path. What's more, you can send the Phonitor Matrix signal to this output, regardless of whether it is configured as Preamp Out (with volume control) or Direct Out (without control).

Extra power
If the headphones have low sensitivity, their level can be raised by 12 dB using DIP switch 1 on the rear panel.
