The 011 FET-M is a factory-matched pair of small-diaphragm condenser microphones built around a custom, hand-machined 19mm gold-sputtered capsule and a transformerless FET circuit. Both units are tested and paired for near-identical sensitivity and frequency response, making them ready for stereo techniques - XY, ORTF, spaced pair, or drum overheads - without hand-matching two individual mics.

Consistent stereo imaging without manual pair-matching

Building a stereo pair from two individually purchased mics usually means comparing frequency-response and sensitivity charts to avoid the image pulling left or right. The 011 FET-M removes that step - both capsules are matched at the factory, so an engineer sets the pair up on overheads, piano, or a string section and gets a symmetrical, coherent stereo image without trimming levels between channels at the mix stage.

Transient detail without losing warmth

Small, low-mass diaphragms track fast transients better than large capsules, but on many budget designs that comes at the cost of warmth and natural tone. The 011 FET-M's transformerless circuit keeps a fast response to a plucked string or a struck cymbal while holding a controlled low end and a smooth midrange, so the extra detail doesn't sound sterile. Included -10dB pads let the pair sit close to a snare or cymbals without risking overload, up to a maximum SPL of 130dB.
