The Sontronics DM-1B is a specialized large-diaphragm condenser microphone, born from a rigorous three-year development process in collaboration with top producers, engineers, and drummers. Designed specifically for capturing the immense power of a kick drum and other bass-heavy sources, it features a unique end-fire design (where sound enters the top of the grille rather than the side). This makes it incredibly easy to position in tight spaces, allowing you to place it right up against the resonant head or even pushed inside the sound hole to capture maximum attack.

A standout feature of the Sontronics DM-1B is its phenomenal High-SPL handling capability. Equipped with a switchable -15dB attenuation pad, this microphone can effortlessly handle thunderous sound pressure levels up to 155dB without a hint of distortion. Its custom-tailored frequency response (20Hz to 20kHz) perfectly balances the deep, low-end thump of the shell with the sharp transient snap of the beater hitting the skin, delivering a massive, punchy, and mix-ready kick drum sound that requires little to no post-recording EQ.

While celebrated as a world-class kick drum mic, its fixed cardioid polar pattern and exceptional low-frequency reproduction make it a highly versatile studio workhorse. The DM-1B yields incredible results when placed in front of bass guitar cabinets, double bass, baritone saxophones, tubas, and bass clarinets. Housed in a robust, heavy-duty metal chassis designed to survive the harshest live touring environments, the microphone comes complete with an adjustable yoke mount and is securely packed in a premium aluminum flightcase.
