Soma Ornament / Lyra-8 adapter is a magnetic overlay that lets you drive the LYRA-8 synthesizer from an ORNAMENT-8 sequencer or a PULSAR-23. LYRA's touch plates are not a conventional electrical input: they respond to skin conductivity between sensors, so patching a CV cable straight into them does nothing. The adapter solves that mechanically, routing control signals onto the same sensors your fingers use.
Sequencing LYRA without giving up hands-on playing
The main obstacle to using LYRA-8 in a studio rig is that it has no gate input at all. The instrument is played by touch only, which makes it hard to lock to the rest of the setup or to leave running on a longer take. The adapter sits on the front panel and brings the sensors out to pegs where you patch CV outputs from the ORNAMENT-8. The sequencer takes over voice triggering while you work the tuning, feedback and modulation controls. The overlay's contact pads keep the original sensor behaviour, so you can still play by hand at the same time: it adds a second layer of control rather than covering the instrument up.
Installation with no changes to the instrument
The overlay is held by magnets, so fitting and removing it takes seconds and requires no disassembly or permanent modification of the LYRA. For an instrument that travels to gigs and whose sensors are sensitive to moisture and skin oils, that matters more than any soldered workaround. Because the ORNAMENT-8 works with Eurorack-compatible control voltage, the adapter can also be fed from a modular system or a PULSAR-23 as long as the voltages stay within the sequencer's working range.
