Shure Beta 57A – supercardioid dynamic instrument microphone, built for miking drums, guitar amplifiers, and brass and woodwind instruments.
A neodymium magnet raises sensitivity and output level by roughly 4 dB over the classic SM57, while keeping a strong signal-to-noise ratio when miking quieter acoustic sources. The 50 Hz to 16,000 Hz frequency response is shaped with a presence boost and a gentle dip around 6 kHz, curbing sibilance and harshness when working on snare, cymbals, or brass instruments. A maximum SPL rating of 140 dB lets the mic sit right up against very high sound-pressure sources without risking capsule overload.
Supercardioid isolation against loud sources onstage
A uniform supercardioid pattern, symmetrical about the microphone axis across the entire frequency range, provides strong gain-before-feedback headroom and effective isolation from neighboring sound sources on a crowded stage. Aiming the null at a snare drum's hi-hat cuts bleed from that source, and on a guitar cabinet it reduces crosstalk from adjacent amps in the same tracking session, without reaching for extra noise gates at the mixing stage.A pneumatic shock mount that cuts handling noise
An advanced internal pneumatic shock-mount system decouples the capsule from the housing, limiting the transfer of mechanical vibration from a drum-rim clamp or mic clip straight into the transducer. A built-in pop filter further tames air blasts during close miking of wind instruments, and the hardened mesh grille along with the enamel-coated die-cast housing hold up to daily load-in and load-out on tour.KEY FEATURES
