Polyend Tracker OG Silver — an eight-track hardware sampler and tracker-style sequencer in a limited silver finish, pairing an Amiga/Atari ST-era workflow with a modern sampling and wavetable/granular synthesis engine in one standalone unit.
Sequencing runs on a column-based grid rather than a piano roll: each row cell holds a note, an instrument, and up to two effects, with patterns running up to 128 steps. It's a different logic from DAW sequencing — more granular at the single-step level, faster for programming drums and basslines, and readable within a few hours of use. Samples load into one of 48 instrument slots and can come from the line input, mic input, an SD card, or the built-in FM tuner, which on its own is a decent source of unconventional texture.
Composing without a laptop in the chain
Tracker OG Silver runs fully standalone — USB power, microSD storage, no computer required at the writing stage. For an engineer working on location or a musician sketching ideas away from the studio, this removes the usual dependency on an audio interface and a DAW for every session.
Working within a tight sample budget
8MB of sample memory (roughly 130 seconds at 44.1kHz mono, up to double that with the low-quality import option) forces discipline, but the editing toolset — slicing, granular processing, wavetable conversion, seven sample playback modes — turns a small amount of source material into a full instrument with resonant filters, ADSR envelopes, and LFO modulation.
