PMC 8-2 XBD – a high-end three-way active midfield reference monitor system from PMC, designed for critical monitoring in larger studio control rooms and immersive audio environments. The “XBD” configuration combines the PMC 8-2 main monitor with a dedicated PMC 8-2 SUB subwoofer, forming a twin-cabinet system that delivers increased bass headroom, extended frequency response and full-range performance.

The system features Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) bass loading for tight, detailed low-end, paired with state-of-the-art Class D amplification: 400 W for HF, 400 W for MF, 2 × 400 W for LF in the main monitor and 2 × 400 W in the SUB module. The specification lists a frequency response of 25 Hz – 25 kHz (-3dB @1m full space) for the monitor in XBD mode. Inputs include analogue XLR and digital AES3 (16/24-bit, 18-192 kHz), and through output (AES3 24-bit @96kHz) for sub-integration. DSP allow user trim/gain, high-pass filtering, parametric EQ, delay and phase control via network interface.

The PMC 8-2 XBD is built to provide true high-resolution monitoring, delivering excellent spatial imaging, transient response and low-end clarity even in modest to large rooms. It’s suited for mixing, mastering and immersive formats (Dolby Atmos, etc.), where accurate translation and full-bandwidth monitoring are crucial.
