Phoenix Audio Nicerizer is a sixteen channel Class-A analogue summing mixer. Discrete, transformerless input stages feed two mix busses and a DSOP-2 output stage carrying a pair of custom-wound DB694 transformers.
Sixteen channels leaving the computer
Summing inside the box is mathematically correct, and that is exactly why it sounds flat: everything sits on the same plane. The Nicerizer takes sixteen tracks or stems out to separate analogue inputs, where each signal passes its own Class-A stage before it reaches the bus. What you hear is not equalisation but depth: instruments spread front to back and peaks stop clumping together. Every channel has its own detented pan control, so the stereo image is built in analogue rather than in the faders of a DAW.
Stereo width and a Drive button per channel
The width control runs in Class-A and sweeps from full mono to an image 25 percent wider, with a separate bypass when you want to compare. A Drive button on each channel adds transformer saturation where you want it and leaves the signal clean where you do not. Insert points on both busses let you patch a mastering compressor across the sum, while a separate monitor output with a channel pair selector gives you a listen without untangling cables at the back of the rack.
