Neumann USM 69 i is a premium stereo condenser microphone designed for a wide range of professional music and broadcast applications. Its dual large-diaphragm capsule configuration makes it ideal for vocal and instrumental ensembles, drum overheads, grand piano, harp, and solo instruments where stereo width and spatial depth enhance the listening experience. The USM 69 i also excels in spoken-word production, such as radio dramas and audiobooks, delivering a sound character similar to the legendary Neumann U 87 Ai while adding a realistic stereo perspective.

This microphone offers full stereo recording flexibility — both XY and MS configurations are possible thanks to the independent dual-capsule system. Each capsule has five selectable polar patterns (omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-8), and the upper capsule can be rotated up to 270° for precise stereo imaging. Each capsule functions independently, making the USM 69 i not only a powerful stereo tool but also a reliable dual-mono solution. In critical applications, it can even serve as its own backup — if one side fails, the other remains fully operational.

The USM 69 i maintains exceptionally low self-noise and a wide frequency response (20 Hz – 20 kHz), ensuring pristine, detailed, and transparent sound reproduction across the entire spectrum. Its solid German-built metal housing and precision-engineered internal structure provide durability and consistency, even in demanding studio environments.
