Neumann KM 185 Stereo Set is a matched pair of KM 185 small-diaphragm condenser microphones, offering exceptional precision, low noise, and natural sound for professional studio and live applications. With their hypercardioid polar pattern, the KM 185 microphones deliver focused directivity and outstanding rejection of unwanted sound, maintaining clarity and neutrality across the frequency range.

The KM 185 belongs to Neumann’s renowned Series 180 – a cost-effective, non-modular line designed for pure, uncolored sound reproduction. Its transformerless output stage ensures an exceptionally wide dynamic range of 127 dB and pristine signal integrity, even with very long cable runs. The frequency response is smooth and linear, with a gentle lift around 10 kHz for added brilliance and detail. Despite its compact size, the KM 185 delivers professional-grade performance with low self-noise (15 dB-A) and high SPL handling up to 142 dB.

Thanks to its hypercardioid pattern, the KM 185 provides strong attenuation at 120° off-axis, making it ideal for isolating instruments in complex acoustic environments — such as snare drums near hi-hats or close-miked strings. Its compact, visually unobtrusive form factor and neutral sound make it equally suitable for classical recordings, acoustic sessions, percussion, brass, and live performances.
