The unit combines 16 balanced TRS inputs and outputs, two 8-channel ADAT optical banks, and a separate headphone output, for a total of 66 simultaneous audio channels at sample rates up to 96 kHz. A built-in 64-channel DSP mixer running 32-bit floating point precision handles 32 aux busses and effects - reverb, four-band EQ, gate, and compressor - independently of the host computer's CPU load. Two 3.9-inch TFT displays show metering for every analog and digital input and output in real time, without needing to open software on the computer.
Universal connectivity without swapping computers
The Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 port negotiates the fastest available connection speed up to 40 Gbps, while staying fully backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB3, and USB2, so the 16A connects to both a current computer with a USB-C port and an older workstation without extra adapters. That flexibility matters in studios handling varied client hardware or gradually rotating a fleet of computers without buying a new interface at every upgrade.Scaling the system without adding PCIe cards
Two Ethernet ports running AVB let you chain additional 16A units or other MOTU interfaces together with a standard network cable, instead of installing extra expansion cards in the computer every time channel count needs to grow.
