FM programming without the operator matrix
Classic FM synthesis puts people off through its interface: numbered algorithms, operator pages, endless menu scrolling. On FIRST LOVE you draw the connections between operators with a finger on the screen. Each of the four parts runs its own four-operator engine with a user-definable algorithm, and the operators are sines passing through a wavefolder and a sine-to-square shaper before they modulate each other. The same set of controls therefore reaches classic FM, near-additive tones and harsher digital territory.
An instrument that works without a computer or a wall socket
Built-in stereo speakers and operation from four lithium batteries mean the synth plays in a backpack, on a train and at rehearsal. The 4x4 looper handles record, overdub, bounce, merge and arrange, while the riff arpeggiator orders notes and rests any way you like. The four parts can each take their own MIDI channel or stack into a single polyphonic patch.
