Locomotive Audio Model L72P2

Locomotive Audio Model L72P2 is a two-channel, standalone version of the L72P1 circuit in its own 19"/2U rack chassis, not a pair of 500-series modules, two independent channels of the same V72 recreation in one unit. It's the two-channel counterpart to the single-channel L72P1 module from the same V72-inspired preamp line.

Two full V72 channels instead of one

Each channel has its own mic and line XLR inputs, a high-impedance front-panel DI input, a balanced XLR output and 48V phantom power, repeating the same tube complement (6922/E88CC, compatible with 6DJ8/ECC88, 6N32P and 12AU7/ECC82) and the same 54dB maximum gain in 4dB steps as the L72P1. Input impedance switches via an internal jumper between 400kΩ and 200kΩ.

The same transformer-winding precision

The input transformer ("S"/studio and "non-S"/broadcast versions), the 3-chamber nickel-core plate choke, and the output transformer with four copper shields are built identically to the L72P1, just doubled across two channels. A 2dB-step output attenuator, a dedicated line input, and an 85Hz high-pass filter on each channel give full, independent control over both sides of a stereo signal. As with the L72P1, the choice of "S" or "non-S" input transformer version is available per channel, letting you tailor the tone independently for both sides of a stereo signal.
