KRK Kreate 5 is an active studio monitor built around a 5" woven glass fiber woofer and a 1" textile dome tweeter, designed for nearfield use in home studios, video edit suites, and compact reference listening setups. It replaces KRK's Classic series as the entry point to the KRK lineup – with bi-amping, Bluetooth 5.3 TWS, and onboard LF/HF EQ trim.
Bi-Amp Architecture and Room Tuning
The low-frequency driver uses KRK's familiar woven glass aramid composite cone – low mass, high rigidity, well-damped – powered by a 45 W Class D amplifier. The 1" neodymium textile dome tweeter, protected by a perforated metal grille, extends the response to 40 kHz and is driven by a dedicated 15 W Class A/B stage. Bass response hits –3 dB at 58 Hz and stays usable down to 46 Hz, with notably linear behavior below 100 Hz. Three detented knobs on the rear panel control system level and LF/HF shelving filters (each ±2 dB in 1 dB steps) – practical for taming room build-up without an external equalizer. Being a rear-ported design, the Kreate 5 benefits from at least 25–30 cm of clearance behind the cabinet; the LF trim helps correct for closer placement when desk space is tight.
Connectivity Built for Parallel Workflows
The rear panel offers a balanced XLR/TRS combo input, an unbalanced RCA, and Bluetooth 5.3 TWS A2DP. All inputs are active simultaneously – you can run your audio interface through the balanced input and stream a phone reference via Bluetooth at the same time without re-patching anything. Two Kreate 5 units paired via True Wireless Stereo operate as a stereo pair with no cable between speakers. Auto-standby kicks in after 30 minutes of silence and can be disabled with a three-press button sequence. The universal switch-mode power supply handles 100–240 V AC, so the monitors run anywhere without an adapter. No mounting threads are present in the base; clamp-style wall mounts are required for elevated placement.
