Korg Volca Beats is a compact analog rhythm machine introduced at Musikmesse 2013 that delivers the powerful, punchy sound of classic drum machines in a portable, battery-powered format. Combining analog synthesis for core drum sounds with PCM playback for percussive accents, it offers a rich sonic palette that cuts through any mix—ideal for studio production and live performance alike.

The heart of Volca Beats is its 10-part drum engine: Kick, Snare, Hi/Lo Toms, Closed/Open Hi-Hats are generated via analog circuitry, while Clap, Claves, Agogo, and Crash cymbal use high-quality PCM samples. Each part features dedicated sound-shaping parameters—Pitch, Decay, Snappy, Grain, and more—for deep, hands-on sound design. The 16-step Electribe-inspired sequencer includes 8 pattern memories and creative performance tools like Active Step, Step Jump, and the signature Stutter effect for dynamic, evolving rhythms.

Designed for seamless integration, Volca Beats features MIDI In and Sync I/O (via 3.5mm jacks) to synchronize with other Volcas, grooveboxes, or DAWs. Its built-in speaker enables instant playback anywhere, while the headphone output allows for silent practice. Running on 6 AA batteries or an optional AC adapter, it’s the perfect companion for beat-making on the go.
