Kali Audio LP-8 V2-EU — an active 2-way nearfield studio monitor with an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter, tuned with switchable EQ for different placements in the room.

This second generation of the Lone Pine series brings a new Class D amplifier platform with lower noise and higher sensitivity than the original version. The bi-amped design splits power across two independent amps — 60 W for the low-frequency section and 40 W for the high-frequency section, for a combined 100 W. Frequency response spans 37 Hz to 25 kHz (-10 dB), with a maximum SPL of 114 dB, giving solid headroom for nearfield work.

EQ correction for real-world placement

Where a monitor sits in a room — on a stand, against a wall, or on a desk — changes the low-frequency response and masks detail in the mix. The LP-8 V2 addresses this with a bank of DIP switches carrying preset Boundary EQ settings: free space, on stands next to a wall, meter bridge, on a desk away from a wall, on a desk next to a wall, and Studio Desk. Additional LF and HF trims (±2 dB) let you fine-tune tonal balance without reaching for an outboard EQ.

A port tube without the chuffing

Front ports on typical designs generate turbulent airflow noise, known as chuffing, which raises the noise floor and obscures low-end detail. The LP-8 V2's port tube is designed so air exits at a constant velocity across the whole opening, delivering clean, tight bass even when the speaker sits close to a wall — useful in small studios and home setups where stand-mounted placement isn't an option.
