Kali Audio IN-5

Kali Audio IN-5 — a 3-way studio monitor with a coaxial tweeter nested inside the midrange driver, backed by a dedicated 5-inch woofer, running on 160 W of tri-amplified power.

Unlike a conventional 2-way design, the IN-5 splits the frequency spectrum across three independent drivers, each working within its own optimal range. This unburdens every driver individually, keeping THD under 1.4% and delivering a noticeably cleaner picture of the mix. The woofer-to-midrange crossover sits at 280 Hz, and the coaxial module itself acts as a built-in waveguide for the 1-inch dome. Frequency response covers 47 Hz - 21 kHz (±3 dB), extending to 39 Hz - 25 kHz at -10 dB.

A single acoustic point instead of two separate drivers

Separating the tweeter and midrange in a typical 2-way monitor causes off-axis lobing and phase inconsistencies that blur the precision of instrument placement in a mix. On the IN-5, the tweeter sits coaxially inside the midrange cone, so sound arrives from a single acoustic point source. Midrange excursion is limited to under 1mm peak-to-peak so its movement doesn't interfere with the tweeter. The result: a stable stereo image and precise element placement, even off-axis.

EQ correction for real-world placement

A monitor sitting on a meter bridge, a desk, or near a wall shifts its low-frequency response in ways that are hard to predict without measurement. The IN-5 provides factory Boundary EQ settings via rear-panel DIP switches, plus 3-position LF and HF trim controls. A front-firing port lets you place the monitor close to a wall without boomy low-end buildup — useful in smaller work rooms where space behind the speaker is limited.
