Contact

IK Multimedia iRig Mic Cast HD is an ultracompact digital microphone for podcasts, interviews, video and live streams. Dual 0.55 inch electret capsules, a choice of front cardioid, rear cardioid and figure-8, and 24-bit audio up to 96 kHz. Lightning, USB-C and Micro-USB cables are included. See phone recording gear in our Warsaw showroom.

A studio attached to the phone

The built-in microphone of a phone picks up the room instead of the voice. The Mic Cast HD measures 50 x 27 x 24 mm and weighs 25 g, and the two ferromagnetic plates in the box let you attach it magnetically to a smartphone or tablet in portrait or landscape. It is powered by the connected device, so it needs no battery.

Pickup direction of your choice

The capsule selector chooses front, rear or figure-8, so you record yourself, a guest across from you or two people on either side. The gain buttons span 48 dB, and the built-in preamp and the 24-bit converter, up to 96 kHz, need no separate interface. The 3.5 mm headphone output and the direct monitor switch let you check the recording, and a multicolor LED shows status and level. The frequency response runs from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, and the maximum level is 125 dB SPL.
