Genelec 8340A White is an active 2-way nearfield monitor from the Smart Active Monitoring family. It has a 165 mm woofer and a 19 mm tweeter in a DCW waveguide, two 150 W Class D amplifiers and up to 110 dB SPL. The White version has a white enclosure. See Genelec monitors in our Warsaw showroom.
Accurate monitoring in a mid-sized room
At high levels many monitors start to compress the low end and colour the mids. The 8340A covers 38 Hz to 22 kHz (-6 dB) with a response accuracy of +/- 1.5 dB (45 Hz to 20 kHz). The DCW waveguide and the MDE enclosure reduce diffraction and give a wide, uncoloured sweet spot, so your mix decisions hold even when you are not sitting exactly on axis.
Calibrating the monitor to your room in GLM
The monitor is part of the SAM system, so you set it up and calibrate it in the free GLM software, which compensates for room influence from mono to immersive layouts. Calibration needs either a 9320A controller or a GLM Calibration Kit, both sold separately. Besides the analog XLR input there are an AES/EBU input and output and two RJ45 sockets for the GLM network. For a desk or a stand Genelec offers, among others, 8000-406 short table stand and 8000-450 Triol floor stand (sold separately).
