16 line inputs on D-sub connectors, 16 line outputs and two main monitor outputs give real channel count for working with an analogue console or patchbay, while A-D/D-A conversion with over 118 dB (A-D) and 121 dB (D-A) dynamic range holds signal quality at mastering-grade levels. Three LCD displays provide precise metering for any input or output block.

Switching between Pro Tools|HD and a second DAW without swapping cards

Red 16Line carries both DigiLink connectors and Thunderbolt 3 ports at the same time, so moving from Pro Tools|HD to a second DAW is a host mode change in RedNet Control or directly on the front panel — no pulling option cards, no interruption longer than a few seconds. Ultra-low round-trip latency makes it possible to build one mix on the DAW for both input-monitored overdubbing and plug-in playback, removing the need to run two separate mixes for the same session.

32x32 Dante for studio expansion without extra cabling

The dual-port Dante card provides 32 input and 32 output channels at higher sample rates, so an additional room, workstation or RedNet device connects with a standard Ethernet cable instead of running analogue multicore through the building. The Red Evolution preamps deliver 63 dB of gain with stereo linking, individual phantom power, a high-pass filter and Air mode — a 2 dB boost at 10 kHz and a 2 dB dip at 20 Hz relative to 1 kHz, with input impedance dropping to 2.2 kOhms, recreating the character of a transformer-based ISA preamp on vocal or guitar sources.
