Erica Synths Resonant Filterbank is a desktop stereo analog effects unit built around ten bandpass filters, derived directly from the Eurorack module of the same name. The design draws on the classic Resonant Equalizer from the Serge modular system — bands are spaced primarily in major seventh intervals rather than octaves, deliberately avoiding the uneven harmonic emphasis that octave spacing introduces. The fully analog signal path is digitally controlled, enabling snapshot storage and complete MIDI CC automation of every parameter. The desktop version is the first to offer true stereo operation and a dedicated slider per band without requiring the separate expander module.
Ten BP filters, multimode operation, spectral compression and no-input generation
Ten bandpass filters operate at fixed frequencies: 29 Hz, 61 Hz, 115 Hz, 218 Hz, 411 Hz, 777 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 2.8 kHz, 5.2 kHz, and 11 kHz, with a 17 dB/decade slope. A global Resonance control shifts the character of all bands simultaneously. In multimode filter mode, the filterbank reconfigures as an unconventional multimode filter with an envelope follower — responding dynamically to the incoming signal's amplitude envelope. The dynamic EQ mode operates as a spectral compressor, automatically attenuating bands in proportion to their energy content. Clocked modulation mode steps band values sequentially like sample and hold, or generates oscillating stereo effects synchronized to a clock. Configurable feedback loops allow operation without an input signal, turning the filterbank into a standalone analog sound generator in the manner of a no-input mixer setup. An analog gain stage boosts incoming signals by up to +24 dB, enabling direct connection with guitars and other low-level sources. Snapshot morphing occurs in real time without parameter jumps.
Per-band MIDI CC, footswitch input and studio or live integration
Each band has its own dedicated slider for direct boost/cut access — no menu navigation required. The display shows filter state graphically, with a Macro view for configuring grouped slider assignments as performance controls. MIDI CC addresses every parameter individually, enabling full DAW automation or external controller mapping. The footswitch input is user-configurable. I/O: balanced stereo input and output on 6.3mm jacks, 5-pin DIN MIDI IN and OUT, USB for firmware updates and preset backup. The enclosure matches the aluminum desktop series from Erica Synths.
