Embodme Black Skin is a replaceable 6 mm silicone surface for the Erae 2 in a high-contrast black finish. The manufacturer lists it as the Black Silicone Skin.
A readable grid under stage lighting
Light-coloured skins diffuse the LEDs evenly, but under strong stage lighting the pad grid stops being readable and you end up hitting zones from memory. Black silicone raises the contrast: only the active zones glow, the background stays dark. Across a set built from eight scenes with different layouts, that is the difference between glancing at the instrument and guessing.
A surface for fingers and for sticks
Six millimetres of silicone gives real resistance under pressure, so Z-axis modulation is controlled rather than jumpy. The same layer absorbs a stick strike, which makes it practical to play drum parts on the Erae 2 without putting the sensor matrix at risk. The skin is replaceable, so a worn surface is swapped out without touching the instrument itself.
