Sound

generation

Sound generationAnalog Rhythm MKII consists of specialised analogue tone and sample generators. The analogue tone generators cover a wide range of electronic percussion sounds and round and assertive sounds. HardDark Techno-Kicks, metal hi-hats, wooden RimShots or rattles cover only a fraction of the possible analogue drum sounds. Also included is a sample player that draws from a huge pool of samples. Samples can not only be loaded into the instrument according to personal taste, but can also be created in the instrument by sampling.Analog Rhythm MKII offers a total of twelve tracks, which, however, share eight voices. Thus, the 'track partners' triggerRimShot/Clap,MidTom/HiTom,Closen/Open HiHatorandCymbal/Cowbells are always optional, but never together. Each track is terminated with an analogue distortion and analogue 2-pinMultimode Filter connector.

Modulation

Each voiceAnalog Rhythm MKII has a widely editable LFO. In addition to the variousTrigger-Modi which, depending on the setting, can also be used as a mini envelope, the LFO clock synchronisation proves to be very helpful. Modulating a filter or pitch with it is part of the basic unit.Samplez LFO is a novelty, especially in an experimental context. Both envelopes are designed as ADSR envelopes for the filter and as AHD envelopes for the VCA.

Sequencer and memory

The typicalElectron-sequencer is one of the most powerful of its kind. For the track not onlyTriggerale alsoShuffle,Accent,Slide,MicrotimingandParameterlocksi program individual step lengths. The actual length of the track is a maximum of 64 steps or four bars - longer patterns can be implemented using spacers. A structured user interface provides direct access to all relevant parameters. Drums can be programmed in the classic TR grid, recorded live with pads like an MPC or recorded inChromatic-Mode...even in tone.Analog Rhythm MKIIo saves a maximum of 128 projects. Each project contains 128 sounds, 128 kits, 128 patterns and 16 tracks.

Connections

The back looks complete: next to the stereo output there are eight mono outputs for individual tracks. The two stereo audio inputs serve different purposes:Ext In is for looping through other audio generators, this should save an extra mixer channel in smaller setups.Audio In is forSampling audio editing. Trio MIDI is also available asDinSyncThis is essential for synchronising the TB-303 or TR-606.Two inputs for expression pedals or control voltages mean that theAnalog Rhythm MKII can also be controlled externally. This diversity is complemented by a USB connection.
