The
Analog Four MKII Black from Elektron is an analogue synthesiser with four similarly structured, very richly equipped tracks . The consistently analogue signal path leads to three very high-quality sound effects , which share the four synth parts . Combined with the proven and extremely powerful live sequencer concept , which allows delicate interference in every detail of a note and even parameter locking , make the analogue Four MKII a tuned, modern groovebox par excellence . Thanks to the configurable CV/Gate outputs, the instrument can be used as a control centre for a modular system
.
Sound generationEach
channel consists of two oscillators , each with
asub-oscillator , and
anLFO for pulse-width modulation. Unlike most other synthesisers, the analogue Four MKII can modulate all waveforms in pulse width. There is also a tunable noise generator , which even has a fade-in envelope. In the oscillator menu, you have access to amplitude modulation (ring modulator-like effects are possible at extreme settings), oscillator synchronisation, glide and vibrato. This mix alone provides a powerful basis for a wide range of electronic sounds. Two analogue filters connected in series are used to process the sounds generated: the first is a 24 dB low-pass filter with overdrive, the second is a 6/12 dB Multimode filter with seven different types. Both filters are resonant and their sound is balanced, round and typically analogue.
ModulationEachvoice of the analogue Four MKII has two comprehensively editable LFOs , each of which can modulate two destinations at the same time. In addition to the different trigger modes, which can also be used as a mini-envelope depending on the setting, the LFO clock synchronisation proves to be very helpful, especially for loop-based music. All three envelopes are designed as ADSR envelopes and have variable characteristics. The first envelope is permanently assigned to the VCA, the second is permanently connected to the two filter cut-offs and can additionally be addressed to two more locations with its own intensity.
Envelope3 is completely freely assignable.
Sequencer and memoryTheElektron sequ
enceris one of the most powerful of its kind. Not only pitch and note length can be programmed in each track, but also shuffle, accents, slide, microtiming and Parameterlocks, as well as the length of individual steps. The actual track length is a maximum of 64 steps, or four bars respectively - longer patterns can be implemented using dividers. A structured interface provides direct access to all relevant parameters. If you wish, you can also connect a MIDI keyboard and play melodies and bass lines. The Elektron analog Four MKII can store a maximum of 128 projects. Each project contains 128 presets, 128 kits, 128 patterns and 16 tracks.

panellooks complete: in addition to the stereo output, there are four mono outputs for individual tracks. Four configurable CV/Gate outputs allow connection to a modular system or analogue synthesiser without its own MIDI interface. The MIDI trio can also be used as a DinSync connector on the output side, which is essential for synchronising the TB-303 or TR-606. Two inputs for expression pedals or control voltages mean that the parameters of the analogue Four MKII can also be controlled externally. This versatility is completed by a USB port.
