Burl Audio B16-B4 – a modular B16 Mothership interface configuration fitted with the B4 mic/line preamp card.
The B16 Mothership chassis, in a 2U format, provides two slots for conversion cards, running the same architecture and the same cards as the flagship B80 model, just at a smaller, more portable scale. The B4 card adds four channels of mic/line preamp with a new BX6 input transformer and a fully discrete Class-A path built around the BOPA14 chip - exactly the same one used in the larger B80 platform. The swappable motherboard lets you choose the digital protocol - Pro Tools, MADI, Dante, SoundGrid, or AES/EBU - independently of the cards installed.
The same mic path in a portable format
The B4 card in the B16 chassis keeps an identical signal path to the one in the larger B80 unit - the same BX6 transformer, the same converter, and the same tonal characteristics - letting you access Burl Audio's signature sound without investing in the full ten-slot chassis. That solves the problem for engineers working in smaller studios or on location recordings, where conversion quality matters within a limited channel count and less gear to haul around.Up to eight mic channels in two slots
Filling both B16 chassis slots with B4 cards gives up to eight audiophile-grade mic/line channels, matching the typical needs of a small tracking session or overdub work without carrying unused, empty slots in a larger chassis.
