Auratone 5C Active Single Black is an active full-range monitor sold as a single unit in a black finish. A sealed cabinet holds one 4.5-inch driver with no crossover, driven by a built-in 50 W amplifier designed by Bettermaker.

Mono, where every mistake shows

A mix can sound right on a pair of monitors and fall apart on a phone, on radio and on a laptop. A single 5C in mono reproduces what most playback systems in the world actually do: midrange with no support underneath and no colour on top. Vocal, snare and guitars have to hold their own, and anything shoving in that range announces itself immediately.

One driver, no crossover

A single cone covers the whole 80 Hz to 15 kHz range, so there is no band split and none of the phase shift a crossover introduces. That is why the 5C has served for decades as a reference for balance and intelligibility. The active version carries its amplifier and power on board, and the combo XLR and TRS input connects straight to an interface or a console with no separate power amp.
