Audient ASP8024 Heritage Edition – 24-Channel Inline Console with DLC and Patch Bay
The ASP8024 Heritage Edition in the 24DLC-PB configuration ships as a fully specified recording console: Dual Layer Control module with 8 motorized faders and an integrated Bantam TT patchbay are factory-fitted alongside the Retro Iron mix bus and the full master section. There is no phased build-out required. From day one, this is a hybrid analogue-DAW system capable of handling large multitrack sessions, complex outboard chains, and moving-fader automation – all within a single desk footprint.
DLC: Motorized Fader Automation on the Console Surface
The Dual Layer Control module removes the need for a separate DAW controller entirely. Eight motorized faders bank across the full session, giving direct hands-on access to every track without switching between interfaces. VCA automation on 8 channels runs natively through the console's analogue signal path – fader moves are captured and reproduced without routing audio through a converter stage. Transport control, track record arming, and plug-in selection are all accessible from the DLC surface, with full compatibility across Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, and Nuendo. Engineers working simultaneously with tape and DAW will find the DLC eliminates the workflow friction of managing two separate control surfaces.
Integrated Patchbay and Outboard Management
The built-in patchbay uses Neutrik TT (Bantam) connectors with up to 144 user-configurable points. Internal wiring can be set as through-wired or half-normalled to match the studio's outboard routing architecture. The Retro Iron mix bus – Carnhill transformers and John Hardy CO.990C operational amplifiers – sits across the stereo sum with two selectable colorations: Low Bump for low-end density, High Lift for top-end air. Both are bypassable when a neutral mix bus is required. Each of the 24 channel strips carries a transformerless, 8-transistor Class A mic preamp, a 4-band EQ splittable between the Mic/Line and Tape signal paths, and an independent gain trim for tape returns.
