Near-field control in small rooms
The BX4 is sized for desktop workstations, home studios, and compact control rooms where near-field accuracy matters more than SPL output. The computer-engineered tweeter waveguide widens the sweet spot and reduces high-frequency scatter outside the listening axis — stereo imaging holds up even at slight off-axis positions. The rear High- and Low-EQ controls allow basic acoustic correction: dialing back the low shelf compensates for bass buildup near a wall, adjusting the high shelf tames hard, reflective rooms. The Active Speaker Position switch determines which unit acts as the master — with the front-panel volume knob and aux input — useful when the standard left/right arrangement doesn't suit the desk layout.
Input flexibility for everyday workflow
The rear panel carries an RCA stereo pair, two balanced 1/4" TRS inputs, and a 3.5mm stereo aux — covering audio interfaces, phono preamps, and consumer sources simultaneously. The front panel adds a 3.5mm aux input and a 3.5mm headphone output with volume control, removing the need to reach behind the cabinet when switching between speaker and headphone monitoring quickly. The two monitors interconnect via the included 3.5mm cable. The package includes Pro Tools | First M-Audio Edition with 20 Avid effect plug-ins.
