LEWITT PURE TUBE – Studio Set is a tube large-diaphragm condenser microphone built around a 1" true condenser capsule and a hand-selected 12AU7/ECC82 tube. The Studio Set includes the microphone, external PSU, 7-pin XLR cable, quick-release shockmount, dual-layer magnetic pop filter, and a mil-spec hard transport case. Winner of the Sound on Sound 2024 Best Microphone award.
Tube Character Without the Noise Floor Penalty
The recurring problem with vintage-style tube microphones is self-noise – typically 12 dB(A) or higher – which becomes audible when applying heavy compression or layering multiple vocal tracks. PURE TUBE addresses this by removing semiconductors and capacitors from the audio signal path entirely: the tube is the only active element in the chain. The result is a self-noise figure of 7 dB(A), a number most solid-state condensers don't reach and virtually no tube microphone on the market matches. That opens the PURE TUBE to scenarios where tube mics are normally ruled out: dense vocal stacking, heavily compressed productions, and sessions with quieter, more dynamic vocalists.
A built-in transformer-based filter compensates for proximity effect, smoothing low-frequency build-up at close distances without requiring corrective EQ in post. The frequency response is quasi-linear with subtle lift around 3.5 kHz and 10 kHz, reinforcing vocal presence and air without obvious coloration. The external PSU handles both 110 V and 230 V globally and requires a 30-second warm-up time after power-on.
What the Studio Set Adds
Compared to the Essential Set, the Studio Set includes the large quick-release shockmount – designed to integrate directly with the magnetic pop filter system, which clips onto the mount itself with no additional gooseneck arm. Everything ships in a mil-spec hard case built for regular transport. The zinc die-cast microphone body (692 g) features a visible tube glow through the front grille when powered. LEWITT backs the microphone with a 10-year warranty.
