LEWITT MTP W950 is a handheld condenser microphone with a detachable 1" true condenser W9 capsule, built for professional stage use in both wired XLR and wireless configurations. The capsule unscrews from the handle and mounts directly onto Shure, Lectrosonics, Sony, Line6 XD-V55/XD-V75, and Mipro ACT transmitters – or Sennheiser systems via the Ambient HHA adapter. One microphone for rehearsal, stage, and studio.
90% Rear Rejection – What It Means in Practice
The persistent challenge with condenser microphones on loud stages is feedback and bleed from monitors, drums, and PA. The MTP W950 addresses this through a dual-diaphragm 1" capsule delivering up to 90% rear rejection – stage monitors and drum bleed are attenuated to a degree that simply isn't achievable with a standard dynamic handheld. Polar pattern is switchable between cardioid for standard vocal applications and supercardioid for tighter side rejection in noisier environments. The cupping-safe design maintains a stable polar pattern regardless of grip position – no hand position converts the pattern to omnidirectional. All three switches (polar pattern, 12 dB PAD, 120 Hz low-cut) are recessed under the capsule grille and accessible only by unscrewing the top section, eliminating any risk of accidental mid-performance changes.
Wired and Wireless in One Instrument
In wired mode the MTP W950 runs on standard 48V phantom power via XLR, drawing 7.5 mA. For wireless use, the W9 capsule detaches and seats directly on a compatible transmitter, powered by the transmitter's internal supply (minimum 5 V). Switching between configurations takes a matter of seconds with no tools required. The dual-layer mesh protection handles plosives and moisture – the typical weak point of condenser capsules in live environments. An internal suspension system minimises handling noise transmitted through the body. Maximum SPL reaches 140 dBSPL at 0.5% THD, rising to 152 dBSPL with the 12 dB PAD engaged. The set includes a mic clip, windscreen, and a semi-rigid transport case.
