LEWITT DTP 640 REX is a flagship dual-element instrument microphone housing a phase-aligned dynamic and back-electret condenser capsule with independent audio outputs via a 5-pin XLR Y-cable into two 3-pin XLR channels. Three Enhanced Frequency Response modes and a switchable pad on the condenser. Designed primarily for kick drum, with additional applications on toms, bass cabinets, and brass instruments. Also available as part of the BEATKIT PRO 7 drum mic kit.
Two Elements – Two Roles in the Mix
The 31.7 mm moving-coil dynamic capsule captures the beater attack – fast transients, the kick's punch and cut through a dense mix. The 22.4 mm back-electret condenser captures the shell resonance and membrane body – low-end depth, warmth, and sub-bass extension. Both capsules are phase-aligned and feed two independent console channels, giving the engineer full real-time control over the blend. No second microphone to position, no phase alignment to troubleshoot, no additional stands – both elements are mechanically solved in one housing.
Three EFR Modes and PAD to 170 dBSPL
The onboard EFR (Enhanced Frequency Response) switch independently shapes the frequency characteristics of both elements. FFR mode (=//=): both elements deliver a linear response – a neutral starting point for custom shaping downstream. Dynamic EFR mode (+//=): the dynamic element receives a boost at 70–150 Hz and accents attack at 3–5 kHz; the condenser remains flat – useful for kick drums requiring a more defined beater. Dual EFR mode (+//+): the condenser focuses on 70–150 Hz (body and resonance) while the dynamic accents 3–5 kHz (attack and click) – maximum differentiation between the two channels. Condenser PAD: –10 dB and –20 dB; at –20 dB the maximum SPL reaches 170 dBSPL. An additional low-cut filter (40 Hz or 80 Hz, 12 dB/oct) is available on the condenser. Housing: zinc die-cast with ruthenium-galvanised steel mesh grille, 158 × 71 mm, 755 g.
