Empress Effects ZOIA Euroburo

The ZOIA Euroburo is the Eurorack 34HP version of the ZOIA modular platform, designed by Empress Effects as a development of the stompbox concept with full integration into a modular system. The core is identical to the pedalboard version: over 90 modules, 24-bit/48 kHz converters, 32-bit internal processing, SNR above 105 dB. The key differences from the original: four freely assignable CV inputs and four CV outputs replace the three footswitches; the module uses full Eurorack connectors rather than pedalboard-style jacks; and an additional headphone output allows desktop operation without a separate audio interface. Power draw from the Eurorack bus: 300 mA (+12 V). Depth: 28 mm. An optional desktop enclosure powered at 9–12 V is available separately.

CV I/O as a functional upgrade – what Euroburo changes versus the stompbox

In the pedalboard version, the Control Port handles one CV input, an expression pedal, and an external switch. In the Euroburo, four CV inputs and four CV outputs are separate Eurorack jacks (3.5 mm) freely assignable to any parameter of any module in the patch simultaneously. Each CV input can control a different parameter at the same time: CV1 modulates reverb depth, CV2 shifts filter frequency, CV3 triggers an envelope, CV4 controls VCA level. The CV outputs send signals from ZOIA's own modules – LFO, ADSR, sequencer, envelope follower – out to external Eurorack modules, making the Euroburo a modulation source for the entire system. This bidirectional CV exchange is physically unavailable in the pedalboard version without external adapters.

Desktop and Eurorack – two operating environments in one module

The optional desktop enclosure with 9–12 V power supply allows the Euroburo to operate outside a modular rack: on a studio desk, in a live setup without a Eurorack system, or as an effects processor connected via the headphone output to an audio interface. In 34HP Eurorack format the module fits any standard case and draws from the +12 V bus. The patchstorage.com community library is fully shared between ZOIA and Euroburo – patch files are mutually compatible between the two formats. Firmware is updated via microSD (card included). In the box: two MIDI-to-1/8" dongles, four mounting screws with washers, a 10-pin to 16-pin IDC power cable, and the user manual.
