Beyerdynamic DT 270 PRO – closed-back over-ear studio headphones built around a 42mm dynamic driver, positioned as the compact and mobile entry point in beyerdynamic's PRO monitoring lineup. The 45 Ω impedance allows direct connection to laptops, audio interfaces, smartphones, and portable recorders without a dedicated headphone amplifier. Frequency response 5 Hz – 24 kHz, THD below 0.04%, weight 194 g without cable, passive attenuation 19 dB(A). Spring-steel headband, replaceable velour ear pads, detachable coiled cable with left/right cup connection option. Included: 1.3 m coiled cable with 3.5mm jack, USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, 6.3mm screw-on adapter, drawstring carry pouch.
Closed-back portability — deliberate trade-offs, not accidental ones
The DT 270 PRO is the direct successor to the DT 240 PRO, with noticeably larger velour ear pads and a substantially revised tuning. The sealed enclosure delivers 19 dB(A) of passive isolation — sufficient for working in noisy environments and for vocal and instrument tracking where mic bleed matters. The ear cups rotate and fold flat, enabling single-ear monitoring during live instrument work or DJ-style cueing. The detachable cable accepts connection at either ear cup, which simplifies cable routing across different desk layouts and instrument positions. At 96 dB SPL/mW sensitivity and 45 Ω, a phone with a USB-C adapter or a laptop headphone output drives the DT 270 PRO to comfortable monitoring levels without compression.
PRO-series serviceability in a compact shell
Unlike the majority of headphones in this price range, the DT 270 PRO is built for long-term use through component replaceability: velour pads, headband padding, and the cable can each be replaced independently. The spring-steel headband and reinforced plastic housing provide mechanical durability without adding unnecessary weight. THD below 0.04% and the transducer accuracy place the DT 270 PRO firmly in the monitoring category — tonally tuned for accurate reproduction rather than consumer-oriented coloration. For reference: the DT 770 PRO remains beyerdynamic's choice for fixed professional studio installations and higher-impedance preamp outputs; the DT 270 PRO addresses mobile, multi-environment workflows.
