The Black Box PSU is the high-capacity power supply for Wunder Audio's 19" rack module ecosystem — the larger of the two available PSU options and the correct choice for any studio running a substantial rack section. It powers up to 12 PEQ2R modules or up to 4 PAFOUR units from a single unit, covering configurations of up to 16 channels of Wunder Audio preamp and EQ without requiring a second power supply.

Power Headroom for Large Rack Configurations

The Black Box delivers 24V DC for the audio circuitry and 48V DC for phantom power, with separate indicator LEDs for each voltage rail running independently. At a glance, the engineer knows whether both supplies are live — no guesswork when troubleshooting a rack. The unit is designed with significant headroom above its rated maximum load: at 12 PEQ2R modules or 4 PAFOUR units, it is not working at its ceiling, which keeps voltage stable and noise low across the full chain. The first module in the rack connects via the 5' DC Main Cable (sold separately); each subsequent module chains off the previous one via the 1' daisy-chain cable (sold separately).

Scalability Within the Wunder Audio Rack Ecosystem

The Black Box supports any combination of compatible 19" modules in a single power chain — PEQ1R, PEQ2R, PAFOUR, and PAFOUR Plus can coexist in any order within the same DC run. Per Wunder Audio's PAFOUR Plus documentation, up to 8 PAFOUR Plus units can be daisy-chained from one Black Box PSU, totaling 32 channels of preamp from a single power source. For smaller setups — up to 4 PEQ2R modules or 2 PAFOUR units — the Blue Box PSU is the more compact alternative. Wherever a rack has more than a few modules or is expected to grow, the Black Box is the appropriate foundation.
