Wes Audio _HYPERION is a mono, fully analog parametric equalizer in ng500 format (2-slot 500-series module) with full digital integration — an analog signal path with automation and recall via VST/AU, USB, and MIDI with zero digital processing in the audio path. _HYPERION is the mono 500-series module counterpart of the stereo Timbre in Starlight format: the same API/SSL-style parametric EQ architecture with stepped frequency and gain selection, selectable Q bandwidth per mid band, and a discrete Class-A active amplifier between the passive network sections. Modules can be purchased in pairs for stereo applications with identical per-channel settings. Stepper motors or relay circuits move physical switches and potentiometers in response to DAW automation.

API/SSL-style parametric EQ in 500-series format

_HYPERION provides multi-band parametric equalization in four sections: Low (shelving or bell in the low-frequency range), Low-Mid (bell/peak with selectable frequency and Q), High-Mid (bell/peak with selectable frequency and Q), and High (shelving or bell in the high-frequency range). Gain is adjustable in precise dB steps, quantized via relay or stepper motor switching for full repeatability at every recall. Frequencies are selected on rotary switches — every position is exactly reproducible. Selectable Q per mid band: narrow Q for surgical single-frequency correction, wide Q for gentle spectrum shaping. The shelving section in Low and High is based on the API/SSL console characteristic — clear, musical correction without ringing artifacts under heavy boost. A discrete Class-A active amplifier between the passive network sections ensures optimal impedance matching. Transformer-balanced input and output — harmonic coloration and the characteristic topology of a transformer-coupled EQ design.

DAW integration and ng500 format

The _HYPERION VST/AU plug-ins handle DAW automation and recall: stepper motors or relay circuits move the physical frequency, Q, and gain switches per band in response to plug-in parameter changes. Recall is accurate to 16-bit per parameter, guaranteeing identical physical settings at every session recall. The ng500 format (2-slot 500-series module) allows installation in any API-compatible 500-series rack. Two _HYPERION modules purchased as a pair form a stereo parametric EQ with identical per-channel character, the equivalent of the stereo Timbre in Starlight format. _HYPERION is one of the ng500 line modules from Wes Audio, alongside NGLeveler, NGBusComp, _MIMAS, _DIONE, _RHEA, and _Prometheus.
