Retro Instruments Link Panel is a 19-inch 1U rack panel for stereo linking two Retro 176 or two Retro Sta-Level compressors. It ships with an integrated cable terminated in RCA plugs that connects to the couple input on each unit. A toggle switch on the front panel engages and disengages linking, so moving between dual mono and stereo takes no reaching around the back of the rack.
Stereo without a wandering centre
Two unlinked compressors on a stereo bus respond independently, so when the signal leans one way that channel gets squeezed harder and the image starts to drift. Linking the detector paths forces identical gain reduction in both channels, which keeps the stereo image stable on a mix bus and in mastering. The metal chassis, finished to match the Retro units, mounts between the linked pair for a consistent look in the rack, and one tidy connection replaces improvised cabling.
