The EarMix 16M addresses a specific stage problem: musicians want personalized control over their own monitor mix without involving the FOH engineer at every adjustment. A single CAT5e/CAT6 Ethernet cable delivers 16 channels of audio and PoE power directly to the unit placed at the performer's feet or mounted on a microphone stand. Each musician independently controls levels, EQ, stereo linking and channel groups, while the FOH engineer retains full control over the main mix.
Per-channel EQ and limiter on every input
All 16 input channels carry a 3-band EQ with parametric mid and an individual limiter – the same processing is available on the main bus. A musician can build a mix precisely tailored to their needs: boost the bass of their own instrument, pull back an obtrusive drum, reshape the vocal EQ. The finished mix saves to one of 16 local scene memory slots – recall at the next show takes a few seconds. Channels 1 and 2 can be stereo-linked as a pair directly from the panel surface without going into software.
PoE, network topology and scalability
The EarMix 16M is powered either from the included 24 V DC external supply or via Power over Ethernet from a compatible switch – including the dedicated PreSonus SW5E. With PoE, a single Ethernet cable is sufficient to place the unit anywhere on stage without access to a mains outlet. Two RJ45 AVB ports support daisy-chaining multiple units or connection to an SW5E switch. Up to 24 EarMix 16M units can connect simultaneously to a single StudioLive Series III system. The onboard analog AUX input accepts a metronome or any external reference signal outside the AVB network.
