Peluso P-28 is a small-diaphragm hybrid microphone combining a tube and a FET transistor in a single signal path — a design inspired by the classic AKG C28 and Neumann KM54, rarely seen in modern microphones.

A FET/Tube Hybrid Instead of a Compromise

Rather than choosing between the low noise of a transistor and the warmth of a tube, the P-28 combines both worlds: a custom transformer and a miniature tube (5744WB, 6J1-B-Q on earlier serials) work alongside a FET circuit, delivering low noise while keeping tube character.

A Lightweight Build for Overheads and Hanging Positions

An 18mm edge-terminated cardioid capsule in a body weighing just 300g makes it a natural fit as a drum overhead or on strings and horns — anywhere the mic's mass and size matter for positioning.

The manufacturer notes that earlier production runs used a 6J1-B-Q tube instead of the 5744WB — worth checking the serial number when ordering replacement tubes for older units.
