Morphor VCA – Dual Lin/Exp — a compact, fully analogue dual voltage-controlled amplifier in a 6HP Eurorack format, fully DC-coupled to work with both audio and CV. Each of the two independent channels has a main gain knob, an attenuated CV input, an LED level indicator, and a switch selecting linear or exponential response. Attenuation reaches 120 dB, so a channel closed to zero passes no audible bleed even with quiet sources. When the first channel's output is left unpatched, the signal is automatically normalized to the second channel's input, forming a simple two-channel mixer with independent level control over each source.
Linear and exponential response in one module
Mixing CV or precisely scaling control voltages calls for a linear response - gain change proportional to the CV input voltage. Shaping perceived loudness works better with an exponential response, closer to how the ear perceives volume and typical of classic VCA envelopes. The lin/exp switch on each channel matches the response curve to the job without reaching for two separate modules - one channel can run linear as a CV mixer while the other runs exponential as a VCA driven by an ADSR envelope.
Automatic normalization as a two-channel mixer
When the first channel's output is left unpatched, its signal feeds automatically into the second channel's input, so two independently controlled sources can be combined into one output without an extra cable or a dedicated mixer module. Each of the two levels is set separately through gain and CV, which makes it possible to fade one source out while holding the other steady - a practical setup for simple crossfades or gated summing of two signals.
