Metric Halo LIO-8 4 Channel (1-4) ULN-R Preamp Kit — an expansion module adding four ULN-R preamps to channels 1-4 of a LIO-8, bundled with an 8-channel DB-25 input connector board.
Unlike the 5-8 kit, this one includes the 8-channel DB-25 input board, making it the natural starting point for a LIO-8 owner who has so far only used line-level inputs and wants ULN-8-grade mic inputs for the first time. Once installed, the unit gains four ready-to-use mic pre channels, with a clear path to add channels 5-8 later on the same board.
ULN-8-Grade Mic Input on a LIO-8 Converter
On its own, the LIO-8 is a conversion and routing processor with no built-in mic preamps, which limits it to line-level work. This kit removes that limitation by bringing in the same ULN-R preamp design used in the ULN-8 — gain range from -22 dB to +91.5 dB, 0.5 dB steps, ±0.05 dB precision. A 115 dB flat dynamic range and a 117.9 dB A-weighted noise floor mean tracking vocals or acoustic guitar directly into the LIO-8 no longer requires an outboard preamp or a compromise in signal path.A Foundation for a Full 8-Channel System
Installing the DB-25 board together with the first four channels sets up the unit for a full 8-mic-input expansion later with no extra wiring — just add the 5-8 kit down the line. This lets an owner spread out the investment: start with the four channels needed for solo tracking or small sessions, then scale up to a full band setup without swapping converters.KEY FEATURES
