Manley Mid Frequency EQ is a two channel passive equaliser focused on the midrange, in a 2U chassis. The path is entirely valve based, with no op-amps and no semiconductors, and Manley Iron transformers wound in house sit at the input and the output.
The midrange is where a mix is decided
Whether a guitar steps forward and a vocal stays intelligible is settled between a few hundred hertz and a few kilohertz. Wide range equalisers hand that whole area to a single mid band, which makes every move a compromise. This design devotes both bands per channel to the midrange, so you can cut the boxy region and lift the range where the attack lives at the same time. Passive topology means a boost does not sharpen at larger settings, because there is no feedback loop shaping the curve.
Two channels, no semiconductors in the path
The input stage runs a 5751 and the output a 12BH7, while the equalisation happens entirely on passive components. Manley Iron transformers at both ends of the path add saturation when you drive them hot and stay neutral at normal levels. The unit earns its place on a mix bus, in mastering, on individual tracks and across stems, and a 10 Hz to 70 kHz response never limits the material regardless of the session sample rate.
