Looptrotter Emperor 500 is a 500-series analog dynamics processor built around a FET circuit that handles gain reduction and harmonic generation at the same time. Depending on the settings it works as a compressor, a limiter, or an outright distortion generator, this is a unit built for character, not transparency.

Three characters in one switch

FAST mode runs as a limiter with obvious, rich saturation, a good pick when you need loudness and density at once. MED gives a fast compressor for taming transients without aggressive pumping. SLOW recreates the feel of a classic analog compressor with a slower response that builds sustain instead of catching every single peak. Instead of dialing in attack and release, you pick a ready-made behavior matched to the material.

Control over pumping and sibilance

The low-frequency filter limits how much bass reaches the detector, reducing distortion and shaping the pumping effect, useful on mixes with a heavy rhythm section. The high-frequency boost acts like a fast de-esser or accelerated compression on sibilance, so a vocal can sit up front without turning harsh. Eight LEDs show gain reduction in real time, and independent DRY/WET control lets you blend the processed signal with the original instead of committing to full compression.
