LEWITT DTP 40 Tr — a 4-meter, 5-pin XLR splitter cable to dual 3-pin XLR (female) connectors, built for the DTP 640 REX dual-capsule microphone.
This is the extended, 4-meter version of the DTP 640 REX splitter, intended for situations where the kick drum sits further from the engineer's position or the stagebox — a common scenario on a large concert stage or in a studio with a separate drum booth. Without the right splitter, the signals from both microphone capsules stay inaccessible for separate processing across two console or interface channels.
Splitting Two Signals From One Microphone Capsule Over Longer Distances
The core challenge with dual-element microphones is that both transducers share a single connector on the body, which doesn't mate directly with a standard mic input, and a short cable can fall short on larger stages or setups with a long run to the stagebox. DTP 40 Tr solves this by splitting the 5-pin signal from the microphone connector into two independent 4-meter cables terminated in standard 3-pin XLR, ready to plug into two separate input channels over a longer distance. That gives an engineer simultaneous access to the dynamic capsule, handling the beater attack, and the condenser capsule, handling the low end, each on its own signal path.
Clean Low-End Signal Without Interference Over a Longer Run
When recording a kick drum or other bass-heavy sources, cable shielding quality directly affects how much electrical interference shows up in the signal, and that risk grows with cable length, especially near other electronic gear onstage. The oxygen-free copper (OFC) construction, combined with tight shielding, minimizes the risk of introduced noise even across the full 4-meter length, preserving the full tonal character of both DTP 640 REX capsules.
