Kurzweil K2061 is a 61-key synthesizer workstation from the K20 series, sharing the complete Dynamic V.A.S.T. engine of the flagship K2088 in a more compact aluminum and steel chassis with a semi-weighted Fatar TP/9 keyboard featuring velocity and aftertouch. Thirty-two layers per program, 256-voice polyphony and 4 GB of FlashPlay memory with zero loading time place the K2061 at full parity with the K2088 in terms of synthesis depth and sound design capability — the only meaningful difference is the keyboard action and form factor, making the K2061 the natural option for multi-keyboard rigs, touring setups where weight matters, or players who prefer a synth-action response for expressive lead and solo work.
Complete V.A.S.T. architecture — not a reduced version
The K2061 carries the identical Dynamic V.A.S.T. engine as the K2088: user-programmable DSP routing, Cascade Mode routing one layer's output through another layer's processor up to 32 layers deep, a 6-operator FM engine with original FM SysEx file support fully integrated with V.A.S.T. layers, VA1 virtual analog oscillators with anti-aliasing, and KB3 ToneReal with 9 drawbars, rotary speed, chorus/vibrato, brake and percussion controls on the front panel. The 2 GB factory library covers 2,042 programs and 587 Multis focused on resculpted K2000, K2500 and K2600 synth sounds alongside selections from the K2700, Forte, PC4, PC3 and SP6. The 2 GB user flash accepts .WAV, .AIF (up to 16-bit/96 kHz) and all native Kurzweil formats, providing complete backwards compatibility with every K-series library from the K2000 onward.
16 zones, 40 controllers per zone, USB audio straight into the DAW
Multi Mode with 16 independent MIDI zones and 40 programmable physical controllers per zone turns the K2061 into a comprehensive performance controller for external modules and DAWs without a separate controller unit. Sixteen arpeggiators, 16 MIDI CC Step Sequencers and 16 RIFF generators operate independently across zones; the 16-track sequencer at 960 PPQ resolution handles full compositional work without opening a laptop. The built-in USB audio interface records directly into any DAW over a single cable. More than 1,000 effect chains, 32 FX units and a 3-band Master EQ with compression deliver polished, stage-ready output without external processing.
